Agri Biotech Foundation (ABF) is an autonomous academic institute engaged in research, extension, human resource development and public engagement. ABF is a registered society under Andhra Pradesh Societies Act. It was established in January 2007.
The Registered Office of ABF is in the campus of Professor Jaya Shankar Telangana State Agricultural University, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad, Telangana State. Following the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh state, a new unit was established at Agricultural Research Station campus, Reddipalli, Anantapur of Acharya N G Ranga Agricultural University. ABF has good infrastructure such as biofertilizer and biopesticide production units (100 tons per annum), Microbiology lab, Plant Tissue Culture lab, molecular biology (Transgenic and Marker Assisted Breeding) labs, classrooms, transgenic glass house, poly and shade net houses.
ABF is recognized by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) and supported by the Department of Biotechnology, Department of Science and Technology, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development (NABARD), Government of Andhra Pradesh, Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) etc., through a number of projects. Its motto is to promote biotechnologies for sustainable agriculture development. It has rich experience in research project management, interfacing science with society, integrating traditional knowledge with modern science. Promoting participatory technology development involving multi-stakeholders has been its strength. Networking with knowledge producers and knowledge users is its specialty.
ABF Biotech-KISAN Hub is a new programme funded by Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India (GOI), under DBT’s mission programme, “Biotech-Krishi Innovation Science Application Network” (Biotech-KISAN) that empowers farmers through science.
